Trade Republic undertook a significant shift in 2023, transitioning from a tech brand to a lifestyle brand. This transformation required pretty extensive collaboration across all the teams. Key milestones included launching a redesigned app interface, unveiling a revamped logo, and introducing a new credit card.

The paid social team’s request for an evergreen asset ignited a creative journey, where food waste became our metaphor. After exploring several ideas, we landed on Butter, Bananas, and Milk as the central theme. I brought this concept to life through animation and rendering, using Cinema 4D and Redshift.

This vibrant, neon-soaked burst of color signaled the brand's shift away from a dystopian aesthetic toward a brighter, more approachable vibe that aligned with the rebrand. I re-created the interface animation of the Trade Republic app and placed a 3D phone and platform against a glowing neon tube backdrop. Adding a touch of volume fog enhanced the scene, making the phone and tube lights pop with depth. The teams loved the results so much that we carried the theme into the upcoming Christmas campaign, reinforcing a strong and cohesive visual style.

When Trade Republic obtained its full banking license, it was a moment of celebration—not just for the company, but also for its customers. As the first bank to pass on the entire ECB interest rate directly to its customers, the campaign was extensive and utilized a variety of techniques, from simple 3D animation to an innovative CGI campaign. I personally shot the footage of the River Spree on an iPhone and 3D tracked it using Mocha. Additionally, I supported the art team by providing 3D renders for newsletters and social media campaigns.

The launch of the credit card was a major milestone for Trade Republic, solidifying its position as both a bank and a key player in the financial market. It was also the company’s first tangible product (aside from swag) that customers could actually own. This was also Trade Republic’s first DOOH campaigns, and it was everywhere for a while—caught me by surprise a few times! These videos kicked off the launch of Fractional Trading, a much anticipated feature for Trade Republic. The goal was to show our clients that even if a full share of a high-value asset seemed out of reach, they could still own a piece without overspending. Using a diamond as the core visual, I leveraged Cinema 4D to fracture and separate the shards, then brought everything into After Effects to craft the typography animations.

This video showcased the highly anticipated launch of the Trade Republic app and website with the new Dark Mode. My task was to create a sleek animation that told the story in a simple, engaging way. It's still one of my favorite projects. The project had to be completed in multiple sizes for different platforms so I built a system that adapted to these formats.

Redesigning the UI of an established app is always a gamble, you can't make everyone happy. This early refresh highlighted the expanded product range available in the upgrade. We went all-in on 3D, incorporating dynamic camera movements, dramatic lighting, and depth of field to create a true sense of scale. On top of that, building an automation system to mimic the behavior of the Trade Republic app was no easy task. Adapting it for multiple languages added another layer of complexity, but we pulled it off!

This Trade Republic Christmas campaign carried forward the style of the Neon campaign, creating a vibrant, glowing world full of festive energy. It was a lot of fun bringing this bright neon universe to life and pairing it with dynamic camera movements. Each day had to feel unique to maintain a sense of excitement and momentum as we raced toward the big day.

My second Trade Republic Christmas campaign was quite in-depth, involving not just animations but also providing elements for the creative studio team to use in banners and newsletter posts. We designed a series of platforms forming a Christmas tree, with each day zooming into a different section to highlight a specific Trade Republic product feature. It was a creative and engaging way to showcase the platform while keeping the festive spirit alive.

The DIW campaign centered around showcasing different types of investments. I supervised the 4K shoot, handled color grading to achieve a polished look, and seamlessly integrated the footage into a Redshift scene. This involved setting up animations, refining camera movements, and taking on the ever-tricky task of creating realistic blurred glass effects. I also rendered a series of stills for Instagram carousels, breaking down the investor types in more detail.

As the name suggests, this feature was all about highlighting trending topics. It’s an ordering system that lets clients view specific stocks and ETFs based on their preferences. Animating a Rubik’s Cube was definitely a challenge, but we made it work!
